Mt Bromo, East Java

Bromo is one of Java's best known tourist attractions. Gunung Bromo itself is just the crater to the left. It resides within the caldera of an ancient volcano called Tengger along with Gunung Batok, the ribbed cone in the foreground and Gunungs Kursi, Watangan and Widodaren. Behind is the impressive cone of Gunung Semeru. This is Java's highest peak standing at 3,676 metres above sea level and is named after the mythical Mt Meru.
