The temple is dedicated to Hien Vien who is said to be the founder of all crafts. The temple was built in the late 15th century by Luu Xuan Tin, a Literature Mandarin. The Hang Bac street area was originally settle by people from Chau Khe, a village famous for its silversmiths.
